Novacolor: A Transformative Paint Showroom

Revitalizing a Forgotten Corner with Art and Design

The design of Novacolor's showroom is centered around the concept of transformation. As visitors enter the space, they are greeted by a downsized opening that serves as a gateway to a world of different emotions and styles. A small blue ellipsoid hanging from the ceiling creates a powerful visual impact, complementing the curved plane and setting the tone for the space. The showroom is divided into flexible areas by a sphere, creating a sense of contradiction and coordination.

The materials used in the showroom play a crucial role in its design. The natural concave-convex metallic texture contrasts with the blue sheepskin texture, creating a visually striking juxtaposition. Additionally, more than 200 material templates are subtly incorporated into the space, showcasing their simplicity and elegance. The result is an artistic paint showroom that embraces contradictions and captivates visitors.

Lighting is a key element in the design, as it helps to express the emotions of the space. Tensioned membrane structures are used extensively to enhance the softness of the light and highlight the products on display. The interplay of light and shadow further accentuates the texture of the materials and adds a sense of restlessness to the space, creating a captivating atmosphere.

Novacolor's showroom not only serves as a place to exhibit their wide range of paint products but also encourages interaction and communication. The carefully integrated elements, such as the natural white color, gray cement texture, silver metallic paint wall, and black travertine wall at the entrance, create a harmonious and inviting environment for visitors.

The design project for Novacolor's showroom began in March 2020 and was completed in July 2020. Located in Shantou, Guangdong Province, China, the showroom has successfully transformed a forgotten corner into a vibrant and engaging space. The design team's meticulous attention to detail, innovative use of materials, and focus on creating a memorable experience have earned them the Bronze A' Design Award in 2021 for Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design.
